  • No, owning a drum set is not necessary to begin lessons. Drumming focuses on developing specific motions and techniques, which can be practiced on a pad or during lessons at our studio. Many students practice these motions without a drum set at home and utilize our studio equipment during their sessions.

  • We welcome students of all ages, from children to adults. Whether you’re a young beginner or an adult looking to explore a new hobby or refine your skills, our instructors tailor lessons to suit each individual’s needs and goals.

  • While not mandatory, learning to read drum notation can significantly enhance your understanding of rhythms and improve your overall drumming skills. Our instructors can guide you through reading music if you’re interested.

Terms and Conditions

All are welcome to play drums and rehearse as bands or individual musicians at Master Rhythm Studios. Backline and drums including breakables are provided and included in the costs for ease of access.

Cancellation policy for one-off bookings for the Master Suite and basic suite: 72 hours or more = full refund or no fee due.

Cancellation policy for regular weekly bookings: A full week’s notice is required. This is because clients looking on-line will not see availability for sessions.

Electrics: If there aren’t bands/musicians in immediately after yourselves, please turn off all the amps, mixers and wall plugs.

In event of a fire: We have installed wireless smoke alarms across all the rooms. Should one alarm be triggered, all the rooms in the studio will go off.

The meeting point in case a fire alarm within Templars Square is triggered is ARK –T, down the stairs, turn right out the back entrance of the shopping centre, and cross Crowell road to where the ARK-T centre is.

There are fire extinguishers located by the entrance doors of the studio rooms, and one in the corridor to the entrances of the studio.

Adjacent Rooms: If other rooms are being used, there will be some sound

Use of heaters/air conditioners: There is a heater, dehumidifier and air conditioner plumbed in to the Master Suite and Starlight Suite rooms. Please ask for advice on how or when to use them during your rehearsals. Windows should be shut during rehearsals.

The drum booths are heavily insulated, so during cold spells, usage of the booths whilst drumming should heat up enough.

Rhythm Suite bookings: It is recommended that you use either the Master Suite or Rehearsal Suite for more than one person.

General Studio Terms and Conditions:

Leave the studio as you found it.

Clients of the studio get to use the private toilets across the hallway. The code is available upon request.

Drinks: We now have a tea and coffee and refreshment area in the rhythm suite. It’s a donation system. Please leave cash donations on the fridge. You can help yourself to tea, coffee, water and soft drinks. Please empty cans or bottles inside of you and not the bins, or leave unfinished cans on a surface. Please use the bins provided for the wastage.

Self-service: Under trusted circumstances, it’s possible for those who feel comfortable using a mixing desk and PA to arrive to the studio and use it on a self-service basis, and to leave the studio unattended. Under these circumstances, we will need to know and trust the clients.

Security: There is 24 hour security and on site and cameras all within the shopping centre, making it secure.

Using the online calendar: Each booking has a form to complete. Please enter your full name in the first name entry box, and your band name (if you have one!) in the “second name” entry box. It helps us to know which band is booking as sometimes different band members book the sessions. Using the on-line calendar means advance payment, but contact Darren to arrange booking in other ways and if you want to pay cash.

You can also optionally fill in what your set up is on the forms, and how you have heard of the studio. If you book regularly you can ignore the “how did you hear of Master Rhythm Studios”.

The on-line calendar shows available times. If someone has booked a slot, the hours that aren’t available don’t show up as available times.

TIP: If you wanted a four hour slot it’s worth looking at a three or two hour slot to see if a time comes up. For example, if a band has booked 8-10pm, you may be able to book 6-8pm or even 10pm-12am!

Select a band rehearsal in the Master Suite or Rehearsal Suite, or a drumming session in booth A or B booking. Then select the hours you want. It’s also possible to add a recurring slot, i.e. to book a few in advance. Good to check in at info@masterrhythm.co.uk for regular bookings first.

Smoking After Hours: You can go outside, the security will let you in and out. Please just keep away a few paces from the blue entrance doors so it doesn’t trigger the cameras.
